Our goal here at Athletes.com is to help you choose supplements that are legal for use in your sport. To help athletes in this endeavor, Athletes.com has created a combined banned substances list that includes both the NCAA and WADA lists. This resource also contains links to the NCAA and WADA websites, to provide you with easy access to the most current lists and information regarding these important topics.

We aim to only carry products on Athletes.com that, according to their labels, do not contain any of the substances on our list of possible banned substances for the sports organizations listed below.

National Collegiate Athletic Association

"The key to continued success in the fight against doping is for the collaboration between the sports movement and the public authorities to continue in force. With each playing an active and critical role, and each pledging its complete support to the Code, we are much closer to achieving our goal of doping-free sport."

Richard W. POUND, Q.C.
Chairman of the World Anti-Doping Agency

"The fight against doping is the number one priority for the IOC"

The Medical Commission International Olympic Committee

Athletes.com joins the International Olympic Committee, World Anti-Doping Agency, National Collegiate Athletic Association and other sports organizations worldwide in the collaborative quest for the promotion of fair play in sports.

The fair play in sports doctrine obligates the athlete to avoid the use of banned drugs, banned substances and banned practices as mandated by their respective sports governing organization. We believe that all athletes, amateur and professional, should compete on a "level playing field", and adhere to healthy training and nutrition programs based on the best available science.

Athletes.com Approach To Athletic Excellence

To further our commitment for athletic excellence, the Athletes.com website provides athletes and coaches with vast informational resources about scientifically founded athletic training and sports nutrition. This information will assist athletes in being their best in sports and life.

The Athletes.com approach to athletic excellence includes three areas of focus:

  • Current Training Approaches: skill building; sports specific; resistance exercises; endurance building; periodization; plyometrics; and other physical and psychological training methods and approaches.

  • Current Nutrition Programs: consumption of healthy foods; pure water; following sports specific nutrition plans; proper intake of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, protein, fats and calories.

  • Proper Use of Sports Nutrition Products: vitamin and mineral supplements; protein and meal replacement drinks; energy drinks for pre-workout, workout, and post-workout use; nutrition bars; and other scientifically proven supplements.

We want athletes and the people who train them to be informed about these vital sports performance topics, so we maintain an extensive library of online information that is updated weekly. We do not intend to put any product on athletes.com if we learn it contains a banned substance.* We used the information from the NCAA and WADA banned substances lists to compare against the products found in the Athletes.com store.* Athletes and coaches can also use this information to double check for themselves.

Athletes.com's goal is to enable athletes to have better health, reduced risk of injury and better athletic performance following legal and scientifically valid training and nutrition approaches, and providing the information and products in one convenient location that provides these resources on a free access basis.

We also maintain an open forum so athletes and coaches can communicate with each other on a worldwide basis.

In closing, we are always open to receiving your comments, suggestions and article contributions, which should be sent to: webmaster@athletes.com

*Notice: The Athletes.com store contains sports nutrition products that were checked against the NCAA and WADA lists as a preliminary attempt in selecting products that appear to be free from these substances, based on reviewing the ingredients listed on the product labels. However,it is the responsibility of each manufacturer to ensure that the label is correct and the responsibility of each individual to verify that the products they are using are free from banned substances. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that no banned substance can be found in these products. So we encourage you to use the combined list prepared by Athletes.com in addition to checking for updates by visiting the NCAA, WADA and other applicable sports organization websites that regulate your particular sport, to confirm that the products you are using are free from banned substances. If you have questions about content of a particular product we encourage you to contact the manufacturer.
